Violent and deadly consequences of revenge occur half way through the text and represents the turning point for Romeo and his relationship with Juliet. The death of Mercutio and Tybult show us the destructive consequences of revenge when Mercutio is murdered by Tybult.

Shakes pear explores revenge and its destructive consequences firstly by setting the play Romeo and Juliet in the middle of an ongoing vendetta between 2 families. He then shows the consequences of revenge through the death of 2 main characters Mercatio and Tybult. Finally he delivers a moral lesson at the end that no good comes from revenge shown by the death of the young lovers, Romeo and Juliet.

Romeo and Juliet starts off with family feud. The Montagues and Capulets are two very rich and powerful families who are just fighting for more power, and they are willing to kill the other family to get that. Stuck in the quarrelling families are Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, who just want peace for Verona and themselves. Shakespeare is showing both sides of the family before his main couple fall in love. He is also showing Romeo and how he only wants peace and not war. Tybult is one of the characters starting the feud.  “Peace? Peace. I hate the word, as I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee.” This shows that Tybult will never have peace with all Montagues.

The death of Mercatio and Tybult shows us the decretive consequences of revenge. Romeo murdered Tybault after his best friend was killed by Tybult. Romeo is all about love but when Mercutio is killed he changes “fire-eyed fury be my conduct now”. Romeos anger has taken over him and revenge has been injected into Romeo. Romeo attacks Tyboult despite the feud that Tybult is now his family. Shakespeare shows us that destructive consequence especially death can change someones human nature so drastically they can go from loving someone “better then cause devise” to “fiery-eyed fury”. This shows that revenge can take the good love out of anybody. Love dose not conker all.

The play ends with the death of Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare wanted to show the reality of life. He kills off both of the main characters at the end to show how family feud violence and revenge what effect it can have on others. Romeo was provoked to kill Tybult which lead to his own death. He felt like he was not needed in the world without Juliet so he drank poison to end his life lying next to Juliet. What is stronger force, love or violence and revenge?

Shakespeare explores revenge by showing what happened to Romeo when he tried to take revenge against Tybult, which all lead to the banishment of Romeo and the separation of Romeo and Juliet.
